It all started in our master’s program two aspiring therapists with big dreams and even bigger hearts. What began as study sessions quickly turned into shared anime marathons, gaming nights, and endless laughter. Somewhere between late-night talks and inside jokes, we found something real.
Over time, we built a relationship rooted in love, patience, and the joy of growing together. From cozy nights in with our cats, Kai and Mirio, to new adventures and quiet moments that mean everything, we’ve created a life that feels like home.
Now, we’re so excited to take the next step and celebrate with all of you the people who have been part of our story every step of the way.
No story about us would be complete without mentioning our two furry children, Kai and Mirio. They’re the cuddliest babies you’ll ever meet and insist on being near their humans 24/7 whether that means sitting on our shoulders (specifically Thomas'), snuggling between us on the bed, or following us from room to room like tiny shadows. They’ve filled our home with love, laughter, and plenty of cat hair, and we truly couldn’t imagine life without them.
It was Christmas 2019 when Thomas planned our first real date at Landoll’s Castle. We wandered through sparkling lights, savored an incredible steak, and even got a picture with Santa. That night started a tradition we’ve kept every year, returning to the castle to celebrate the magic of the season together.
This was one of our first pictures together! Back in 2019, I went to a Halloween party at Kent with my best friend Heather. I told her I liked Thomas and decided to invite him to join us and he actually showed up! It was so sweet that he came out to celebrate, and Heather (along with her sisters) kept playfully pushing us together on the dance floor. The rest is history!
Christmas morning 2024 began like any other for Sarah and Thomas, with Sarah’s parents visiting their home, as they always did. Thomas had been planning a very special surprise: he wanted to propose during their gift exchange. However, neither of them prompted the exchange that morning—Sarah hadn’t suggested it, and Thomas hesitated because he worried that Sarah’s gift for him might be… unusual. (It was: a bath set and a watch!)
Once her parents and sister left, they finally settled in to exchange gifts just the two of them. Thomas handed Sarah three neatly wrapped boxes. She eagerly opened the first… only to find a box of Ziploc bags from the pantry. She chuckled in disbelief. The second box held fruit strips—again, straight from the pantry—and Sarah laughed even harder, starting to wonder what on earth was happening.
Then came the last box: empty. Confused, Thomas told her: “Your gift is hidden in the tree.” She searched carefully, but the small present was cleverly tucked away. Thomas eventually offered a hint: it was “peeking in some family photos” they had taken earlier. Following his clue, Sarah finally discovered a tiny wrapped box at the top of the tree.
With a mix of excitement and disbelief, she unwrapped it—and there it was: the ring. “IT’S A RINGGGGG,” she exclaimed, laughing and almost in shock. “Wait… is it that kind of ring?” Thomas grinned and said, “Yes.”
At that moment, with their family friend’s dog, Duke, watching curiously, Thomas got down on one knee. “Excuse me, Mr. Dukey…” he said, pausing to give the pup a polite nod. Then he looked up at Sarah, full of love, and asked, “Goob, will you marry me?” Overwhelmed with joy, laughter, and happy tears, Sarah said yes, beginning the next chapter of their lives together.Luckily, Sarah had her ring camera set up the whole time, capturing every hilarious, heartwarming, and magical moment of the proposal—so they can relive it again and again.
